A lot can change while you are on the field, and often these changes happen quickly. That is why we offer independent support that adapts to your life and work in your local context. We support you as you navigate the questions, challenges and cultural situations you encounter along the way, helping you to continue living and working with awareness, resilience and confidence.
Personal support, wherever in the world you may be
Are you currently serving abroad and would you value having someone alongside you to reflect and think things through with? A Journey on Mission offers personal support throughout your time on the field, tailored to your situation and the season you are in.
Whether you choose ongoing support or guidance around a specific question or challenge, we are here to walk alongside you for part of your journey. In this way, we help you continue to live and work in another culture with health, resilience and confidence
Building a Home Support Team that makes a difference together
Are you part of a home support team, or are you looking to set one up? A committed and well-equipped home support team can be invaluable to mission workers and their families. InToMission provides training, equipping and ongoing support for home support teams. We help you think through roles, responsibilities, expectations, communication within the team, and how you can support mission workers in a consistent and sustainable way.
Together, we build a strong home support network that cares, thinks alongside, prays for and carries mission workers and their families throughout preparation, their time on the field and re-entry.
Growing together between cultures
Are your children growing up between different cultures? This can bring many enriching experiences, as well as new challenges. Both parents and Third Culture Kids (TCKs) may benefit from someone who listens, offers advice or provides personal support. InToMission offers support for both parents and TCKs themselves. Together, we explore themes such as identity, development, education, transition, loss and growing up between cultures. Support can take place online while you are on the field or in person during home leave when you are in the Netherlands. In this way, we support the whole family as you navigate the different stages of mission and crosscultural life.
Take time to reflect and move forward with confidence
Would you like to take time to reflect on everything you have experienced during your mission assignment? A debriefing programme can help you process your experiences, find direction for what lies ahead and move forward with confidence. Debriefing can be valuable during home leave, at the end of a mission assignment as part of re-entry, or following significant events such as a crisis, conflict, trauma or an unexpected return home. Think of it as unpacking a backpack. It holds beautiful memories, valuable lessons and moments when you experienced God’s presence, but sometimes also painful experiences, disappointments and loss. Together, we take time to reflect on your story and explore what you need to give these experiences a place and move forward.
Reflecting together on what a mission assignment means for parents
Is your son or daughter preparing to serve abroad as a mission worker, or are they already living and working in another culture? Their mission assignment brings changes not only for them, but also for you as a parent. ConnectInMission is a gathering specifically for parents of mission workers. Together, we explore themes such as letting go, staying connected across the distance, communication, and the changes that come with a mission assignment. There is space to share experiences, ask questions and connect with other parents. We can also provide an information or support-network evening for family members and others involved, helping them better understand and support mission workers and their families.
Would you like to prepare well for living and working in another culture, or develop your intercultural skills further? InToMission offers training and equipping that help you navigate crosscultural life with confidence and intercultural sensitivity. You will gain a better understanding of differences in the way people think, communicate and work together, and receive practical tools to help you respond to these differences with greater awareness. We also offer Life Languages training, a practical communication tool that provides insight into your own communication style as well as that of others, helping you communicate more effectively and build stronger connections. In this way, you are equipped personally, practically and interculturally for living and working in another cultural context.
Working together towards recovery, balance and resilience
Are you experiencing high levels of stress, or do you feel that the demands of mission life are becoming too much? Living and working in another culture can place significant demands on you. Change, cultural adjustment and high expectations can leave you feeling out of balance. InToMission offers support for stress and burnout. Together, we explore what you need to recognise warning signs early, strengthen your resilience and restore a healthy balance. If burnout has caused you to step back from your work, we support you step by step through the process of recovery and processing what you have experienced. In this way, we help you move forward with renewed energy and confidence in your life and calling. Our support is based on the approach and methodology of the CSR Centrum and is tailored to your personal situation.
Discover where you are now and where you can grow
Would you like to gain a deeper understanding of who you are, where your strengths lie and where there is room for growth? The Opstap Assessment helps you identify your talents, strengths and areas for development.
We recommend the assessment as part of our Prepare4Mission and A Journey in Mission programmes. It can also provide valuable insights if you have already been serving abroad for some time, giving you an opportunity to reflect on your personal and intercultural development.
In this way, you build a strong foundation for healthy and sustainable service at every stage of your mission journey. If you want to know more: www.opstap-assessment.nl
